Adrian, My Dear Former Student...

2/3/25 Hello, my dear student needs any financial assistance you can provide. His insurance accountant passed away and now his insurance has not been renewed. He is patiently waiting. Meanwhile, he has to get dialysis 3 times a week and currently, he is only able to go once a week. Any small amount would be great. Thank you and sincerely, Karen
Hi, my name is Karen Lynn Kazemi or usually referred to as, "Miss K" by my students. Well, my story begins when I met Adrian at Fort Logan Elementary, in the Sheridan School District in around the year 1999. I worked with him in reading, writing and math in and out of the classroom from the time he was in first grade to fifth grade. He then went to Sheridan Middle School until around 8th grade.
Unfortunately, he had to move with his mom and dad back to Mexico because they found out he needed a kidney transplant.
Since he left Colorado, I have stayed in contact with him over the years via email and "WhatsApp." He just celebrated his 31st birthday in October.
Unfortunately, his dad passed away several years ago so it is just Adrian and his sweet mom, Margarita. Unfortunately, Adrian has been on/off transplant lists, receives dialysis three times a week and has undergone several surgeries because of complications with his kidneys. While all that going on, Adrian continues to be positive, caring, compassionate, loving and strong. He doesn't have any further education beyond 8th grade because he told me it was very difficult for him in Mexico. However, he is so intelligent and self taught. His writing and speaking skills in English amaze me despite his limited education AND he is "self taught" when it comes to using computers.
I know Adrian's dream would be able to get a kidney transplant so that he could live a full life with his mom. Whenever I talk to him, he always puts his concern for his mom before his own.
His medical bills, weekly appointments for dialysis, transportation (and walking) to/from his appointments, food, housing, etc. is very difficult for his mom because Adrian cannot work because of his serious health issues. Therefore, I am hoping that this fundraiser can help pay for food, transportation to/from dialysis as he takes public transportation (and walks), and medical bills. I am going to make sure and distribute the money to Adrian myself.
Who knows, maybe if someone sees this "Go Fund Me" page, they will have ideas, connections and suggestions on how we can help Adrian eventually get a kidney transplant.
Finally, to show what a warm human being he is, when I have told him I have had a rough day at work, he always offers to talk to me and console me. Seriously, he is such a special human being.
My goal is $5,000 to help pay medical bills, pay for food, transportation, etc., however, it is a start. Eventually, if he could receive a transplant, that would be a dream come true.
I have never created a "Go Fund Me" page, but this situation pulls at my heartstrings daily. Thank you so much for any amount that you may be able to donate. Sincerely, Karen Lynn Kazemi
