Coming Together for Freddy’s Family

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved friend, husband, and father, Frederick "Freddy" Yaw Mokpokpor Acheampong. On March 1, 2025, Freddy left this world far too soon at the age of 43, leaving behind an incredible legacy of love, kindness, and joy.

Freddy was born on August 27, 1981, in Ghana, and at the age of 9, moved to Germany. In 2008, he moved to the U.S. to pursue soccer at Wesleyan College, where he met the love of his life, Rebecca, and started a family. Freddy was the most adoring father to his two children, Jayden (14) and Hope (7), and a devoted husband to Rebecca. Their lives together were filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Freddy—whether for a moment or a lifetime—knows how special he was. He had a way of making everyone feel seen and valued, and his infectious personality and humor left lasting impressions. Freddy’s wisdom was always paired with a warm smile, and his advice always came from the heart.

Freddy was driven, hardworking, and meticulous in everything he did, whether it was his career as a fund accountant or keeping track of everyday details with his trusty spreadsheets. He found joy in the simple things, whether it was a walk in the rain, a delicious meal, or spending time with his family—whether playing soccer with Jayden or enjoying tea parties with Hope. He loved exploring new places, cultures, and experiences, but most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family, creating memories together.

We are devastated by his loss and heartbroken for Rebecca, Jayden, and Hope, whose lives have been forever changed. Freddy’s absence leaves a void that will never be filled, but we are committed to supporting his family through this unimaginable time.

We are asking for your support to help cover the funeral costs, as Freddy’s final arrangements will take place in his home country of Ghana. In addition to the emotional burden, the financial challenges are significant, and any help—whether large or small—will make a meaningful difference in easing the strain on his family during this difficult time.
