RAPTURE - A Howard University Thesis Film

Hello! I am a filmmaker from Baltimore, Maryland, by way of Enugu State, Nigeria, currently studying Film and Television Production at Howard University, with two minors in History and Theatre Arts. My producers and I are striving to make RAPTURE a reality! Coupling my background and love for theatre with my passion for film and storytelling, I seek to infuse theatrical elements such as dance and theatre with screen acting.

This will be the fourth film that I've directed, the second at a collegiate level. I am excited to tell a story that the average young adult might resonate with. My objective as a filmmaker is to communicate the nuanced experiences of African-descended peoples throughout the African diaspora.

RAPTURE is a visual exploration of a spiritual awakening, grounded in a narrative. Anya, a young woman who has recently entered the workforce, grows dissatisfied with her waking life, yet continues the routine of it. Until a mysterious, veiled woman appears to her and thrusts her upon a journey of self-exploration.

This film presents an experimental coming-of-age visual exploration that combines both abstract and narrative elements. My film urges those to reflect upon the nature of their present circumstances and interrogate if they are truly content within them or merely enduring.
