Rap to Africa

You can make a difference by donating to the International Circuit of Hip Hop and the Arts today. Please help three inspiring artists, Young Herk, P-Dot, and Supa Emcee from the City of Detroit, attend the Guediawaye by Rap Festival in Dakar, Senegal. Youngherk, the son of Big Herk, is his father's protege. He performed at the Guediawaye by Rap Festival last year and has been reinvited as a brand ambassador. P Dot, a female lyricist from Detroit, has been making headway with her music and newest project, Problem Child. Supa Emcee, Michigan's "Marvel Lyricist," who recently survived a tragic car crash two years ago, is an ultimate emcee who brings high dynamics, creative rhymes, and innovative styles to hip-hop. Each artist has expressed an interest in going to Africa.

The Guediawaye by Rap Festival is held every New Year in Senegal, West Africa. The Festival invites artists from neighboring African countries, Europe, and America. Artists engage in cultural exchange with French/Wolof artists in Senegal. Artists also have the opportunity to visit the G Hip Hop Center in Guediawaye, attend artist development conferences, and record in Africa.

The last year 2021, our organization worked effortlessly during the Pandemic to send artists Youngherk and Shari Hope from Grand Rapids, MI, to Dakar. It was an enlightening experience. The artist performed on New Year's Eve. Additionally to their performance, the artist also visited Goree Island, Lake Rose, the Fatala Wildlife Reserve, and the African Renaissance Museum. The artist, most importantly, had the chance to stay in Ngor Village and engage directly in African culture.

Allowing underground hip-hop artists the opportunity to travel as far as Africa for the experience of performance, engaging in the culture, and learning history is a program The International Circuit of Hip-Hop and the Arts wishes to continue to grow, especially in the coming years. The programs allow the artist to grow culturally and step out of the box.

The funds we need to attend the New Year's Program is $12,000 and will be allocated for flights, accommodation, and visits to historical sights such as Goree Island, the African Renaissance Museum, and Lake Rose. Please support our mission.
