About Urooj Fatima Kapri (Sindhi Chhokri)
Urooj Fatima Kapri, better known as Sindhi Chhokri, is a fearless rapper, activist, and cultural ambassador from Village Fazal Muhammad Kapri in Jhudo Taluka, Sindh, Pakistan. In a patriarchal society where women's voices are often silenced, Urooj has used rap to fight against injustices, addressing issues like gender inequality, child marriage, and climate change.
Her journey from a small village in rural Sindh to national and international stages is nothing short of extraordinary. But for Urooj, it's not just about her success—it's about creating opportunities for others, especially women, in her community, where such opportunities are virtually non-existent.
Why This Fundraiser Matters
In urban areas, women often have access to creative spaces, resources, and platforms to express themselves. But in rural villages like Fazal Muhammad Kapri, these opportunities are almost unheard of.
We are raising €2,500 to help Urooj establish a professional recording studio in her village. This studio will give women and young artists in rural Sindh a chance to share their voices, create music, and challenge the societal norms that hold them back.
How the Funds Will Be Used
The funds will be used to:
- Purchase professional recording equipment to produce high-quality music.
- Set up and soundproof the studio space in Fazal Muhammad Kapri.
- Keep the studio accessible to marginalized and underrepresented voices.
This studio will become a creative hub where women and aspiring artists can overcome barriers, collaborate, and share stories that inspire change and celebrate Sindhi heritage.
Why This is Personal
Growing up in Village Fazal Muhammad Kapri, Urooj experienced firsthand the lack of opportunities for women to express themselves or pursue their dreams. Despite these challenges, she rose to become a voice for the voiceless, performing on national and international stages.
Now, Urooj wants to give back to her community by creating a space where others can thrive. For many women in her village, this studio could be their first and only opportunity to share their talents and make their voices heard.
Join Us in Making a Difference
Together, we can help Urooj turn this vision into reality. Every contribution, big or small, will help build a studio that empowers women, uplifts Sindhi voices, and sparks change.
Donate today and help transform lives in rural Sindh, one story at a time.
