Services for Raoul “Skol” Garay

I write this in disbelief.

My brother was a free spirit. Passionate, loyal, seemingly carefree, and with the most contagious personality. FUNNY, so light hearted that you couldn’t help but laugh at your interactions with him. Yet, beneath that cheerful exterior, he fought a silent battle.

It is important that we remember Raoul not solely for the circumstances of his passing, but for the life he lived and the moments he created. His journey was not defined by his struggles; it was defined by his passion, his joyful spirit, and his determination to keep moving forward.

Raoul leaves behind a legacy of the family he created with his loving and supportive girlfriend. A 1 year old son and unborn baby girl. For that, we are thankful.

In celebrating his life today, please reflect on the lessons he leaves behind. Let us remember that mental health struggles do not define a person, but rather, it is their love and their impact on those around them that truly matter. We ask that you honor Raoul and our family by respecting our privacy in regards to the details of his passing. My hope is that we can reduce stigma and provide support for those who, like him, face the invisible battles of mental health.

Though Raoul’s time with us was tragically brief, his memory will endure forever. He is loved, he is missed, and he is always in our hearts.
