Ransom: A TV Pilot

Hi, my name is Taylor Thompson and I am a senior at the University of Kansas this year majoring in film and media studies. This semester, I will be directing a TV pilot that I wrote for my Capstone project called Ransom.

This dark comedy centered around Thanksgiving break explores what happens when a pair of best friends learn if the risk is worth the reward when they hold a basketball star for ransom.

My time at KU has allowed me to discover my passion for filmmaking. I have been lucky enough to work on commercials in Kansas City all summer, and my wish is to be able to reach the same level of professionalism I encountered on those shoots. Last year, I submitted this script for the Mike Robe Screenwriting Award and became a finalist. Your support will assist in bringing this Capstone project to life!

This story is centered around the strong sense of community I have experienced in Lawrence my entire life. We will be filming at the end of September and early October. I plan on submitting my final product to film festivals across the country. My goal is to rent professional lighting equipment and be able to hand-make some of the props and set designs featured in my script.
