Synopsis

Ever wondered how burglars pick their marks? Well, for seasoned criminal Cain and his protégé Jez, they’re willing to look where most people wouldn’t – the obituary page of a newspaper.

The hapless duo find a wealthy residence which appears ripe for the picking, and with the mourners attending the funeral, they strike. Dressed for the occasion, Cain ‘ransacks’ mercilessly whilst Jez struggles behind as the clock ticks and their sacks fill.

A conversation about their differences is cut short when they find a final door behind a velvet curtain. Little do they know that inside waits a peculiar fate for them both, and a lesson that crime really doesn't pay in the most unexpected way.

Meet The Team Behind The Story

Alexander (Ally) Kirkham & Dan (Daniel) Millen
WRITERS / DIRECTORS / CO-PRODUCERS

A dynamic duo of sorts, perhaps similar to Cain and Jez (without the criminal element).

Ally and Dan are an award-winning writing team who met in 2021 at MetFilm School in Ealing. Their previous projects include The Final Act and The Knocking, both dark comedy short films. Since then, they've continued to write together and are like brothers (yes, bickering daily). To date, their writing process has always been hilarious and harmonious... long may it continue!

Ransack encapsulates their style and joint vision for storytelling by tackling universal themes such as morality, class and justice amidst dark comedic backdrops. If you want serious and silly in equal balance, they’ve got you covered.

The story of Ransack was born out of a real-life experience which later inspired the film’s events. The writers aim to explore the blurred lines between right and wrong and pose questions about the morality of stealing, the fight for daily survival and a deeper insight into different class perspectives.
