“Ranger Rick” Beasley - Throat Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Hi, there my name is Kayla Beasley-McFarland and I am the oldest daughter of Rick Beasley.
As some of you may know in July 2022, our father Rick was recently diagnosed with stage 4, squamous cell carcinoma throat cancer after having found a lump in his throat.
This was news that was sudden and has taken our family by storm. Unfortunately, this is leading our dad Rick to an uphill climb of chemo and radiation. And it’s uncertain right now how long this fight will take to overcome and beat cancer.
Rick is a father of three (Kayla, Shelby, Beau), a grandfather to 4 (Aliya, Mia, Parker, and Willow), husband to Polly, son, brother, a friend to so many of us and if you know my dad you know that he is a ball of energy and love and such a unique joy to be around. He takes life by the horns and is always up for a good time. He fills our lives with love, hugs, humor, and all the dad jokes you could imagine.
As you can imagine going through chemo and radiation and stage four throat cancer can be a daunting feat, however, the financial burden that is now being placed on Polly and my dad’s lives are becoming too great to bear.
In (July 2022) an ultrasound and PET discovered that he has 4 tumors in his throat, one of which is about the size of a ping pong ball.
Unfortunately, we have found that his cancer has spread and is in his left lymph node as well. In (August 2022) he had exploratory surgery to get more biopsies and to try and pinpoint the origin of cancer to get a better range for radiation. Unfortunately with this surgery, they didn’t remove any of the tumors and as of now removal of the tumors is not advised.
Next, he is meeting with a nutritionist, and the radiation and chemotherapy doctors to get exact dates planned for his treatments.
As of now he’s expected up undergo chemo and radiation for the next 7 weeks (possibly more).
My dad has been the main source of income for our family for as long as I can remember and chemo and radiation will leave him unable to work for the unforeseen future. My dad being self-employed, the last couple of years with the pandemic have been challenging financially, to say the least. Now to add this hardship on top of my dad not working missed work for Polly, and medical bills flooding in, it will be more than they can bare on their own.
Our hope is to alleviate some of that financial stress to allow my dad and our family to take this head-on, for Polly (his wife) to be able to afford to take some time off of work or take shorter work days, to take care of my dad and take him to appointments. To supplement his and her income, supplement his copays /deductibles and supplement the costly expense of insurance.
Thank you for taking the time to read and if you have it in you to help financially, that would mean more than you know. From the bottom of our hearts, from our family to yours, thank you for your kindness, donations, and love in advance. Together we are #rangerrickstrong
