Ranell Brixey’s Medical Fight
Donation protected
Ranell was diagnosed with disseminated histoplasmosis and nearly died back in April/May. She was placed on ECMO life support for 40 days before she was well enough to be removed from it. Ranell then progressed well and was removed from all life support and transferred to a long term rehab facility to regain her strength. She progressed well for a week and was able to walk 45ish feet with a walker. However she contracted double pneumonia and a uti. Ranell has an immune deficiency and requires IVIG treatment but there is a nationwide shortage right now. (Please consider donating blood and plasma if you are able). With these infections Ranell was transferred back to hillcrest where she has had some complications with the medicine she was on causing seizures so she was placed in a coma. She has since been removed from the coma and is slowly waking. She still has lots of fluid on the outside of her lungs however. With all these medical complications her doctor team and family decided it would be best if she was moved to the Barnes-Jewish hospital in St Louis MO as it is one of the top hospitals in the US. The donations will go to help with her medical costs and lodging cost for her family to stay with her in St Louis. Thank you all so much for your prayers!
