Randy has been battling metastatic bladder cancer for the past 3 years. He has recently started chemotherapy again for the third time. Beyond the challenges of chemotherapy treatment, Randy had undergone gamma knife surgery on a pituitary tumor. This tumor has caused multiple challenges including debilitating vision problems and severe headaches. This has required additional help at home.
As Randy's illness continues to progress, he has not been able to work since November, forcing him to apply for social security. We learned social security has a holding period and Randy will not be eligible to receive benefits until the end of June. This process has humbled Beth and Randy as they struggle to pay their mortgage, medical bills and other necessities on a single income.
