On September 12, 2017, Randy Weber (brother) was seriously injured while cutting trees in the woods. He was admitted to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City and has been in ICU with broken back, broken ribs, broken shoulder and knee injury since he was admitted. He has undergone just 1 surgery so far - for the knee injury. Randy will be in the hospital for quite some time before moving to another facility and undergoing physical therapy. He may also face future surgeries for his injuries. It is estimated he will have to remain in bed on his back for 12-16 more weeks. It is unknown how long it may be before Randy is able to do anything physical.
Randy's wife, Yvonne, and their 4 kids, have been at the hospital every single day, and many nights, to be by Randy's side. This GOFUNDME account has been set up to help the family with assistance they need right now, and during the weeks and months ahead to cover loss of income, travel costs, medical procedures and therapy, and other unexpected costs.
Randy played baseball at Glen Lake and later became head coach, amassing a 207-78 record. His Laker baseball teams won 6 Northwest Conference championships, 4 District titles, 3 Regional titles, and advanced to Class D state semi-finals in 2001. As head coach at Traverse city West, he amassed a 101-65 record, winning 2 District titles. Randy is a member of the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
A Benefit will be held on Saturday, October 21 starting at 4 pm at St. Rita's Hall, just south of Maple City featuring a dinner, silent auction, and other activities. Items are needed for the silent auction as well as the meal. Contact any of Randy's siblings if you can donate an item for the benefit (Tom, Tim, Terry, Brian, Chris or Bridget Weber, Trina Pleva, or Trudy Galla) or Yvonne's sister (Roberta Flaska-Tarker).
On behalf of Randy's family, thank you for helping with a donation, prayers, or help at the October 21 benefit. The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to friends, former players and coaches, community members, Cedar Fire & Rescue, and Holy Rosary parishioners - your support is such a Blessing!
Thank you all!
