Randy’s Memorial Expenses

Our dad, Randy Hicks, left this world far too soon. Randy became ill with pneumonia several weeks ago; unfortunately he couldn’t physically recover this time and passed away at home on Sunday March 24th. His passing was determined to be a natural death, however, it is believed that a pulmonary embolism was a contributing factor to this very unexpected passing.

I think most of us can agree that Randy left an indelible impression on everyone’s lives in one way or another. He had endless love and optimism for life. Wherever Randy was you could expect endless laughs, food, stories, and hugs. As we navigate this difficult time, we're reaching out to friends and family for assistance in honoring his memory with a fitting memorial service. Our dad had one request, “throw me one big ass party.” Although his party is coming sooner than we could have ever expected, we have to remind ourselves that some people are here for a long time and others are here for a good time. Randy was definitely here for a good time. He lived a very full life, filled with happiness. No doubt, he is up there shooting the breeze with his good friend Jack.

The funds raised will go directly towards his cremation and celebration of life party on July 6th in Grand Marais, MI. We will be exploring lodging options to minimize stress on family and friends that will be coming from out of town. As we know, Grand Marais fills up fast, especially during a holiday weekend, and lodging may be difficult. We recommend that everyone start exploring lodging as soon as possible. We will do our best in securing some lodging as well.

Let’s ensure this legend gets the party he deserves, in the town he loved the most. Your generosity will not only alleviate the financial burden but also provide solace during this challenging period.
