Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an acute monophasic paralyzing illness usually preceded by an infection.
On February 14, 2020, Randy was at work when he was starting to feel numbness in both feet and hands. He left work to go to ER to get checked out only to be sent home without explanation of what he was feeling. That night at home, the numbness increased. By the next morning the numbness was traveling up his legs and arms but now accompanied by weakness and the inability to walk more than a few feet. As the symptoms worsened in only just a short amount of time, Randy was taken back to ER and refused to leave without explanation for his symptoms. After a thorough work up, Randy was found to be suffering from GBS, an extremely rare auto-immune disease.
After being admitted to the hospital and getting the right treatment, one week later, Randy is unable to walk, unable to swallow solid foods, unable to talk clearly, and is still feeling marked generalized weakness and numbness.
Those who know Randy describe him as the funniest, most caring, unselfish guy. He has a laugh that no one can ever forget. As family and friends of Randy, we are kindly asking for any donation to help Randy continue to get the medical care that he needs. Randy has a long recovery road ahead of him and needs aggressive rehab to get back on his feet. His medical insurance deductible is $7,000, and must be paid in order for him to continue to get the care that he needs. With God’s grace, a positive mindset, and hard work, we hope to see Randy get back on his feet so that he can come back home and continue on with his life. Any prayers and donations will be greatly appreciated! Thank you and God bless you all.
