Sometimes you have to drive a stake in the ground!

Hi, my name is Randy Roedell. If you are reading this, you are probably one of my friends, family, supporters or fans.  Over the last several years, I’ve become convinced that I am gifted and wired to help people move forward.  God has created me to help people see things differently and to help them take steps to move forward.  I have had the opportunity over the years to do this for people both personally as well as professionally.  However, in the last dozen years, helping people move forward has been on the edges of what I do rather than being my primary focus.  It’s time to change that.  It’s time to become a professional coach.

Coaching is a growing industry and it was tailor made for me.  The role of a coach is to help people move forward by creating space for them to think about their situation in new ways, helping them craft a plan for growth based on those new insights and helping keep them accountable for the action steps they’ve committed to.   As I begin my coaching practice, I am looking forward to working with “Professionals, Part Way Through”.  These are people who have had experience and success in their professional lives, and are looking for ways to maximize their effectiveness even more moving forward. I am excited to develop  partnerships with them that lean into their experiences and knowledge and draws out solutions based on their reflections and creativity.

As a professional coach, I believe that it is important for me to obtain credentials that indicate that I have received adequate training and have agreed to an accepted code of conduct and ethics for the practice of coaching.  The International Coaching Federation, or ICF, comprised of over 20,000 member coaches, is the most respected certifying organization in the world for the coaching industry.

Over the last two years I have been looking at various ICF accredited training programs and have found one that will be a good fit for me.  Creative Results Management is based in the Seattle area and they provide a coach training program that is accredited by the ICF.  I’ve chosen their program because they come highly recommended from people I respect, they have trained over 4,000 coaches in the past ten years and their coaching perspective is consistent with my worldview.

Creative Results Management provides training in Bellevue, Barcelona & Singapore.  I am enrolled in the Barcelona program which starts October 12th.  There are several reasons why I am choosing the Barcelona program.  The next Bellevue training program isn’t until March of 2016.  Going this fall allows me to develop my coaching practice almost six months sooner than waiting for Bellevue.  In Barcelona, I will likely get more direct interaction with the coaches who are providing the training, both because Barcelona will likely be a smaller cohort than Bellevue, and the coach trainers expect to be available outside of class more than when they train in Bellevue.  Being in Barcelona puts me well outside of my regular routine and will allow me to focus my time and energy into developing the coaching skills that I will use to build my practice.  Attending the Barcelona training also gives me a story and allows me to create some buzz as I start building a coaching practice… and for those who know me well, you won’t be surprised if I tell you I find a way to squeeze in a soccer match while I am there.

So, I’m sending out this Go Fund Me Campaign to all my friends, family, fans and supporters.  I’m asking you to help me launch this venture and create some buzz.  This campaign will help to cover travel expenses, the cost of the training program, ICF certification costs as well as help me line up some of my initial coaching clients.  You guys have been people who have supported and encouraged me along the way and I know you can help make this happen too!  I’ve built in a number of thank yous for people who contribute at various levels.  The first two levels include pizza and photos, while the next four levels all include either individual or group coaching which is a great way for you to experience coaching to help move yourself forward while at the same time supporting my launch.  Take a moment to check them out and then choose your contribution level. Feel free to contribute at more than one level if you want more than one thank you.   When you are done, please take a minute to share this with other people who you think might be interested.

For me, pursuing coaching is driving a stake in the ground.  Thanks so much for being someone who loves me and believes in me.  Thanks for helping drive this stake into the ground!
