Cancer is a monster but Randy is a beast and will fight to win this battle! On March 17th Randy had a seizure and was taken to the hospital in Destin, FL. After a few tests they discovered a mass in his brain and it was decided to transport Randy to Pensacola Sacred heart where they have a Neurosurgeon on staff, Dr. Carr. A CT scan and MRI showed a tumor in the left temporal lobe of his brain, the speech and memory center. Randy went in for Brain surgery on Wednesday, March 20th. The doctor said she was able to remove nearly all the tumor. However, this type of tumor, an Anaplastic Astrocytoma, has tentacles and infiltrates the brain where it can’t be fully removed. Testing on the tumor showed it to be malignant and stage 3. The plan for fighting this cancer is still being put into place but most likely will require radiation treatment and/or chemotherapy.
Unfortunately, Randy does not have medical insurance and is going to be in need of ongoing medical care and will have significant medical bills.
He is beloved by many, his bright personality lights up any room he enters and he has a zest and passion for life that is highly contagious and he is always on the go. He and his adoring wife Nicole have just started their married life together and have been married for almost 2 years. They want as much time to enjoy life with one another as possible. Having overcome together her own recent illness they thought they were on the way to getting back to living their active life. Randy has 2 loving children, his daughter Amanda, son Brian and his wife Candace and is a stepfather to son Nick. Randy is a PawPaw to 2 little sweethearts that mean the world to him Evan and Alyssa. His mother Jean has been fighting her own medical battles this last year and Randy was right there by her side as her caregiver and emotional support. She is torn up by what her son is going through. He is loved by many close friends and family. This illness and diagnosis has come out of nowhere but he is ready to fight and has so many by his side to stand with him.
Randy would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need and is not one to ask for help. His mentorship and friendship means so much to me and I know it has to countless others as well. So, on his and his family’s behalf I am asking please help in anyway you can. We will continue to update as we learn more information. But please help us to relieve the financial stress that will be on him and his family so that they can concentrate on kicking cancer’s butt!
