As many of you may know Randy has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia since the first of October and has been in the hospital for 59 days off and on since then. In addition, he suffered a heart attack because of the leukemia, so it has been a very difficult period of time. Because of his serious illness, he has been unable to work in his grooming establishment and Tim has been left to manage the business as best he can and cover all the living expenses and monthly bills. With that being said, TAKE THE LEAD has been extremely helpful and has covered a couple of the monthly expenses which has been a God send and taken a great deal of the financial strain off Tim's shoulders. They will continue to do so for four more months. But they do not cover certain items and that is what I am writing about here. Randy has been accepted into the bone marrow transplant program at the University of Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah which is four hours away from our home. When the procedure takes place it will require that both he and Tim live full-time in Salt Lake City for a minimum of 4 months. He will need someone with him 24 hours a day and they must live within 20 minutes of the hospital. We are getting that arranged for now. But the issue of who can live at OUR house and care for our dogs for that extended period of time while we have to live and pay for a place in Salt Lake City at the same time. It is not something that Take The Lead covers. We have a couple of very competent individuals who can handle this but unfortunately we will not have the funds necessary to cover both our housing costs while living in Salt Lake City for that period of time AND also pay for the help to live at our home and care for our dogs during that period of time. So we are asking any of friends and family that can if they could donate to this Go Fund Me appeal to help us cover these extraordinary expenses. Already the medical bills have reached nearly a half-million dollars, but thank God we have a fairly good insurance plan which is covering a large portion of the expenses and Take The Lead is helping as well. So we should be able to cover the remainder. It is just the costs of getting help at home while we are having to live in Salt Lake City that is of concern.
