Randy Ott's Medical Fund

Anyone who has ever met Randy Ott knows he is full of life, laughter, and love. He enjoys spending most of his time outdoors. You would likely find him mowing his property or boating at Lake Viking on any given day. During his free time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing with famiy and friends. He is committed to his work at Randy Curnow Dealership.

In early September, Randy choked on a chicken bone, which he was able to clear from his throat. Little did we know, this event would turn out to be a blessing in disguise. After weeks of experiencing a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and an increased cough he decided to be seen by a physician. After multiple appointments with an ENT physician, worsening symptoms, and a comment of "there is something in your throat" further plans were made.

On October 31, 2016 a throat biopsy was performed at a local hospital. As his wife and daughter patiently waited for the physician, their nerves and worries rose with every minute. As Randy was in the recovery room, the physician met with his wife and daughter giving them news they never wanted to hear. "I am 99% positive this is throat cancer." As the two of them took in the information, they learned they would have to be the ones to break the news to him. As they informed Randy of the unimaginable news, his first words were "Take me to Tulsa." (Cancer Treatment Centers of America is located there).

On November 2, 2016 the pathology report finalized the Diagnosis of Stage 3 Throat Cancer; Invasive Squamous Cell Carcinoma, moderately differentiated. With further diagnostic testing, he learned the cancer is localized and has not spread to any lymph nodes or other body parts at this time. He decided to set up a consultation with a well known local hospital. Randy, his wife, and daughter met with this facility multiple times throughout the month of November. Although, this facility is very credible for cancer treatment, Randy decided he wanted a second opinion at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. After further researching this facility, he learned there are five locations. Due to insurance purposes, the best location for him is their facility in Zion, Illinois.

From November 29, 2016 to December 3, 2016, Randy, his wife and daughter traveled to Zion, IL for a three day consultation at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). During their consultation, they met with numerous physicians and healthcare personnel whom informed them about this type of cancer and the best treatment options for it. The staffs knowledge, confidence, and reassurance that this cancer is curable won all three of them over. Also, they were blown away by the staffs kindness, warmth, and undivided attention during their stay. With that said, Randy decided he would like to receive his treatments at CTCA.

His treatment plan will involve 7 weeks of daily radiation (Monday-Friday) with weekly chemotherapy during that time frame. For him to receive this treatment plan, Randy and a family member will need to stay at CTCA during the 7 weeks of treatment. Needless to say, the expense for this treatment plan, traveling, lodging, and food will be high. During his treatment plan, complications could arise causing him to need further operations to help support his body for recovery. Obviously, we hope these complications do not occur, but we have no way of telling how his body will respond to this treatment plan.

Prior to Randy starting treatments, further clearance from a dentist is needed. Unfortunately, an expensive oral procedure needs to be performed before starting radiation and chemotherapy. Randy is undergoing that procedure during the week of December 5th. We are hoping he can start his 7 weeks of treatments by the end of December.

Randy's family has created this page to gather donations to help pay for his medical expenses and provide support while he is unable to work. Your donation will support his recovery to a cancer free body and help eliminate unneeded stress.

Please help us support our effort to give back to Randy the love he shares with so many every day. We ask for you to share his story through every social media outlet you can think of to help support this beloved individual.
Help us cover Randy's medical expenses and lost pay to get him back on his feet.

We greatly appreciate any donation amount and support during this very difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
