Randy Hanson's Cancer Journey

Hi everyone, We are trying to help alleviate some of the financial burden for my dad as he battles bladder cancer. He was diagnosed in January of this year, and had a port placed shortly after. It has been a tough few months for him. He has experienced a few complications during his treatment. They found a blood clot in his arm when he was going through his second cycle of chemo, which they explained was due to the cancer and his port. He was started on Eliquis, which is unfortunately extremely expensive. He is currently going through his third cycle of chemotherapy/immunotherapy. He has to do four cycles total and will have to have his bladder removed once he gains some strength back. In addition to the physical, mental, and emotional toll this has taken on him, there is also a very large financial burden. We started this GoFundMe in hopes that we can help with that. If you are able to donate, he would be so beyond appreciative. Every dollar counts. I will continue to update you guys on his journey on his CaringBridge page. His surgery will be done in the cities. We met his surgeon last week, and he is incredible. We feel very confident with him, and he believes that the cancer is contained to the bladder, and that he will likely make a full recovery once his bladder is removed. He will remain in the hospital for 3 weeks after surgery. He will have to continue immunotherapy for a year following his surgery. He is unable to have visitors right now because he has been very sick from the chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments. He is also too sick for phone calls right now, however, cards or letters or posts on his CaringBridge page are welcomed and encouraged. Knowing that there are people out there who care about him, are thinking about him, and praying for him, will mean so much more to him than you know. This has been an extremely isolating, life altering, and painful experience for him. We are hopeful that the surgery will be successful, and that the treatments that follow will keep him cancer free so that he can recover and live his life to the fullest. If you would like more information, or have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly. My email is [email redacted]. I am happy to relay any messages as well. We appreciate you all. Love, Cassie & Family
