A very good friend of mine, Randy Gomez, is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is loving, caring and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He has not ever met a stranger. Randy served over 20 years in the Coast Guard and was very active in high school running track and participating on the wrestling team. He went through all these activities and training not knowing he had something inside him wresting with his life until Thursday, April 20th. He had just got back from a delivery sitting around talking to the guys in the shop about what to have for lunch when out of nowhere the battle on his heart took him to the ground and he couldn't fight back for over 30 minutes. But Randy doesn't give up that easy and he found the strength to continue fighting.
Randy had a heart attack. He has Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. HCM is an inherited disease that directly affects the heart muscle. With HCM, the thickening becomes extreme. In time, the thickening of the heart muscle can cause the heart to get bigger, or enlarge or can start restricting the blood flow. He is currently in Cardiac ICU, heavily sedated and on dialysis to help with poor kidney functioning. He has been able to open his eyes and squeeze Judy (his wife), his brothers, and the nurse's hands. He is critical, but stable and still has a long road ahead of him. He's going to be in the hospital and out of work for a while and will need a lot of care and we all know the cost of that is not cheap! Day to day expenses will also accrue and so I am reaching out to any and everyone to help offset this costly burden off of Randy and Judy. We appreciate your willingness to contribute and your continued prayers.
