Help Randy attend Project Walk therapy

Donation protected
Randy suffered a C4 level spinal cord injury, due to an infection, resulting in quadriplegia.

We are looking to start a fund so Randy can attend Project Walk therapy sessions to help him gain strength & mobility. If enough money is raised he may also be able to get a new wheelchair.

Project Walk is a paralysis recovery program designed to facilitate motions to reactivate & reorganize the damaged nervous system.

Attending Project Walk two days a week for 2 hours a day on a regular basis will help Randy improve his quality of life. Randy will experience improved join stability & flexibility in both his upper & lower body, which will help him learn to transfer & gain some independence to perform everyday tasks. Reduction in pain, pressure sores, UTIs, spasticity & depression are additional benefits to the program.

Backstory
In February 2014, Randy was suffering with a severe fever. They believe the fever was due to cut on his body. At one point, he was in such pain that his doctor gave him a shot in the neck to help relieve the pain. A few days later, Randy fell and could not get up. He ended up in the hospital with a major infection in his neck, heart and blood. He was in a coma for 3 weeks.

The infection in his neck, heart and blood was pressing against his spine. He had several surgeries to clean the infection out. His daughter, Amanda, had him moved to another hospital where he had more operations.

Once he woke from the coma it took weeks before he gained any movement. At first he could only use his right arm. At this point, he knew he was paralyzed. He remained in ICU for a very long time and wasn’t supposed to be able to leave the hospital. Against all odds, Randy continued to gain movement & in Oct 2014 he left the hospital.

Due to all of this he lost everything… his ability to work, his business, his home, and his life, as he once knew it.

Randy began to rebuild himself.

With therapy he is able to get around with the aid of a wheelchair & transportation van.

In 2021, Randy started working at The Home Depot as an electrical associate. He is a beloved member of the team. Even with his limited mobility, he loves helping customers and they seek him out for his vast knowledge and helpfulness.

How you can help
Please make a donation to help Randy attend therapy sessions at Project Walk. Home Depot’s Homer Fund will match every dollar we collect through a matching grant program.

With this therapy, Randy is hoping to gain additional strength & movement. Therapy will cost $1920.00 per month, allowing Randy to attend two 2-hour sessions per week.

This is the first time he was able to leg press without assistance. We hope to help him continue his progress with this therapy. Every donation helps Randy and his this goal.
