Hello,
My name is Cody, and I've created this campaign to raise funds for my parents during what is a very difficult time for them and the rest of my family.
Randy is a universally-loved man--father of four, grandfather of three, and husband of thirty-two years. Hard-working, loving, wise, inviting and fun-loving, he is and has always been an anchor for our family, the immovable rock that ensures everything stays grounded and secure.
Leaving behind an adolescence of hardships and trials, he carved out a life for himself, my mother Jaci, myself and my three siblings amongst the pines in Acton, Maine. We were homeschooled by my mother while my father worked to provide our meals and education, to make sure we had the best upbringing they could offer. I wouldn't be the man I am today without his guidance, support and love throughout all our years together. I owe him more than I'll ever be able to repay.
After weeks of excruciating back pain that wasn't going away, he checked in at the hospital for scans. What they found were fractured discs in his spine, discs that were being crushed by the pressure of two large tumors growing there. These had metastasized from the stage 4 lung cancer found shortly after.
My father just survived 12 hours of spinal surgery to remove the tumors in his back and add structural support to his spine, a procedure that could have left him paralyzed, or worse. Luckily, he made it out without any nerve damage. However, he still has a long journey ahead of him, and cannot work due to the surgery he's undergone, and the impending treatments for the stage 4 cancer still present in his lungs. The goal of this campaign is to give my parents the financial support they need to keep a roof over their heads so that they can continue to fight for my father's life.
I learned how to be a good husband from him. He filled my childhood with unforgettable memories, and my adulthood with knowledge and love. He's also one of the toughest people I've ever met, and I know he can overcome this--but he needs funds to carry him through the healing process, so that he can focus his energy on getting well, not where his next mortgage payment will come from. At only 62 years old, he has a lot of years left ahead of him to watch his kids and grandkids grow up, and he deserves that time.
Thank you for reading, thank you for considering, and my endless love to anyone who can donate.
