Ramsey Gaines Fight Against Cancer

I would just like to inform y’all about Ramsey. On June 17th Ramsey said his right shoulder and chest was hurting. So I gave him an ice pack and some ibuprofen. He felt a little better we went on to choir practice and he started complaining about it again. So a couple of ladies and I said it was probably just gas or indigestion. So about 2:30 am he was hollering “momma it hurts”. I said Bron I ain’t going to the emergency room. The next few days he said very little about the pain. We continued ibuprofen and the ice pack. He had just started working at the Y a week before this. On Thursday June I 23rd had just dropped him off at the Y and time I pulled back in the yard he texted me and said mom I’m hurting so bad come get me. I pulled back up at the Y and I texted him I’m here. He text back you may have to come in I can’t move. I went in and one of the lifeguards came to check his blood pressure. It was elevated a little. I called Trae Gaines to see what I needed to do. He said momma call the ambulance. I called and they came within 10 minutes or less. They checked him out and said his symptoms sound like it may be his gallbladder. So they took him to Anderson. We were there from about 2-9 pm. They transfered him to Greenville about 9 that night. In Anderson after a X-ray, blood work, EKG and CT scan they found a mass(didn’t tell us where though) ‍♀️ Trae went to be with him in Greenville so that we could go home and get things together. We went that Friday and they said he has tumor near his heart. It’s called a germ cell tumor. It is cancer but it’s CURABLE So that Saturday he had to have a biosphy done. That went well! The biopsy showed that the tumor is the size of a baseball (they gave us the picture). We didn’t get the results until the 28th. We came home on the 29th and went back on the 30th to start chemo. I had asked the doctor were they going to do another CT scan before starting chemo. This was my thing how is he feeling better just from taking a piece off for the biopsy‍♀️ He said no! So he started chemo last Thursday. They could not get the needle in the port (tried twice). I said okay Lord! They might just have to do that CT scan after all They did do a X-ray to find the port. Y’all this took from about 4-8. About 8:15 pm another nurse came and got the needle in. His chemo started about 8:30 pm. He did really good the first night. The second night he got a little nauseous. He has made his first week of chemo We have 11 more weeks to go! He will have chemo 5 days a week every 3 weeks.

I just want to say thank you all for prayers, money, food, scriptures, phone calls, texts, volunteering, future benefits and babysitting. The love is real! I have shed so many tears just from acts of kindness.
