My name is Sandra Bonilla and I am requesting donations to buy a ramp so we may convert our car to a handicap accessible vehicle. My daughter needs that ramp so I can transport her to her doctors appointments and future therapies. She has a condition called spina bifida lumbar meningocele. She has undergone many surgeries in her life, recently in 2019 she underwent back surgery to restore a malfunction in her back. With that surgery she had several complications and she had to undergo surgery again. After the second surgery she continued having complications and therefore had to undergo a third surgery. It has been a year and a half since the first surgery to her back in 2019. Since the surgery in June 2019, she has been lying in bed and the doctor has only allowed her to lie side-to-side making sure she is being moved constantly. Recently, on October 20, 2020, she received an orthopedic jacket, thus allowing her to sit for the first time for only 30 minutes a day. The money to buy the ramp is really necessary at this point because now she has been making progress and with your help she will attend her therapies. The reason I am reaching out for help with the ramp is because we have alot of expenses. We were in the hospital a long time with our daughter. My husband had to ask for several loans to meet expenses of rent, bills and a babysitter for my 5 year old boy. My husband did not work several days to be with us during Sandritas stay at the hospital. When Sandrita undergoes surgeries she likes both myself and her dad to be with her. My husband is now working and paying off our debt but we also have another expense coming as we need to move to a different home. The reason we want to move is because our current home is too small and once my daughter is able to use her wheelchair it will not fit through the restroom door. My daughter is better and soon she will be able to be on her wheelchair. At this moment we are only able to bathe her lying down, since she is now better I bathe her in the living room because she must be flat as she is not able to sit on her own and I cannot bathe her with her orthopedic jacket. I find myself having to bathe her in the living room because the wheelchair does not fit in the restroom. I also need a different home because the home I am currently in has steps. A therapist has come to my home to see the restroom but nothing can be done as there is no way to make the restroom bigger. I would love to have a home with a restroom big enough for her to be able to go in with her wheelchair and also for her to be able to get her water therapies in a bathtub. For the aforementioned reasons we want to move to a new home, because these expenses are coming up my husband and are not able to pay for the ramp. Sandrita will need to start her therapies soon and I know that with the help of each and every one of you this will be possible. I want to thank you in advance .
