Ramona's battle with ALS

On June 28th 2017 Ramona Armstrong Harrington was diagnosed with ALS which is also called Lou Gehrig's disease. On the average there are 6,000 new cases reported each year and an estimated 20,000 americans are living  with ALS at any one time. The doctor told us that people diagnosed usually have 3 to 5 and in some cases up to 10 years of life expectancy. That is not the case for Ramona. The doctor told her that her ALS was very progressive and that she may have 1 to 2 years left if that. ALS takes away your ability to walk, talk, write, swallow, and ability to breathe. You are basically entombed in your own body. Currently there are no cures for ALS. Ramona has been amitted 3 times into the hospital so far with the days accumulating to over 35. On the last trip (July 20th 2017) a feeding tube was inserted, a ventilating machine, and coughing machine which she uses 3 times a day. She is already in need of constant 24 hour care and cannot be left alone. Those who know her or have heard of her are well aware of the person that she is, a loving and caring wife,  mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend with a heart of gold. When she needs prayers the most she still prays for her family and friends everyday. This has been heartbreaking for all of us. She knows and we all know that her days are limited with us and we are thankful for each day with her. The only power we have over ALS is making sure she is comfortable and her needs are met for the time she has left with us. We simply can't do it alone. Your contribution to this fund will go towards Ramona's significant cost of medical care, equipment, transportation and home health care.
