Ramona was diagnosed with a very aggressive and painful form of cancer and must undergo chemotherapy once a week, radiation 5 times a week, and hydration therapy on weekends. She has recently also needed blood transfusions to deal with weakness. Her oncologist is Dr. Carney with Kapiolani Medical Center and Hospital. Treatment for this extreme form of cancer is only possible in Honolulu so she must stay there for at least two months while maintaining payments for her home here in Kona. Because she works for commissions and is so weak she cannot currently work, she has very little income to meet her expenses. Without local support in Honolulu, she has expenses for getting to and from medical appointments and obtaining groceries. The radiation and chemotherapy appointments are miles apart and miles from the hotel where she is staying. Hospitalization is not available. It is questionable when she will be able to work after completing chemo and radiation. Through this ordeal Ramona has strived to maintain a positive attitude. After years of helping others, she really needs our help.
