Ramirez Family in Lahaina (Friends of Alameda)
Donation protected
I’m fundraising to help support our friends the Ramirez family who have lost their homes in the devastating Maui fires in the historic Lahaina town. Our friends who live in Alameda, California now were in Maui visiting their family in Lahaina when the high winds and fires destroyed their hometown on August 8th. They lost power and cell service and we didn’t know if they were safe or not. So scary! Thankfully, they were alive and safe. Their father, aunties and uncles were evacuated by the firefighters and lost 5+ homes & everything in it. They escaped with some personal belongings and their vehicles. They have lived in Lahaina for over 70 years and now their home is gone. Thankfully, they survived but the devastation is just beginning. In the short term, many are staying with relatives while aunties are cooking food for the displaced family members. Many are retired seniors and many have lost their jobs. Family members who work in the tourism industry like hotel staff, hotel house cleaning, restaurant staff have lost their jobs. Multiple family members are displaced and cramped staying in one house. They will have to do this longer. Some are flying to the mainland and Philippines to stay with family since their homes burned down. They are in need of basic resources food, water, clothes, toiletries, hygiene products. Their post office is closed so they won’t be able to receive packages or Amazon deliveries for awhile. It’s truly amazing how the Maui and mainland communities have come together with support. Let’s help them with the long journey ahead to rebuild their lives. Any donation will be greatly appreciated. Please share with your friends and family. It's going to take a village. Thank you in advance for your compassion and support.
