Ramsay’s Vet Bills

Donation protected

Hello All,

Alysa and I hate to be in this position and it’s completely a last resort but Ramsay has had diarrhea for over a month + now(this is where it starts). He started to have blood in his stool and we have been to the vets 4 times trying out 4 different solutions and tests for what could be going on. Thousands of dollars being spent to come back with negative results.. straining and upsetting.

He was tested positive with Giardia and began a last treatment with that diagnosis. A few days pass on the new medicine and he starts to take a dive in health(doesn’t seem related to the meds). He stops eating, low energy, lethargic and vomiting,
losing 1.3lbs in 5 days and just a completely different dog. Almost as if he’s not in his own body. Very scary to witness, especially when I’m with him a lot and notice his mood changes.

I had to rush him to the vets to get him looked at as I called my vets and they recommended this. They said at this time they have done all they can do on their end and we needed a better opinion. Thank god I took him to Fish Creek 24hr Animal Hospital.  They examined him and went over a bunch of questions and started to do tests. Tests then determined he very much needed hospitalization. He was severely dehydrated from the vomiting and diarrhea and lack of eating and drinking. The worst case scenario, which I’m trying not to think about, is he could be Septic. Septic is basically a blood poisoning. It is very serious and would require a great deal of medical attention and of course..money. We are writing this post with his bill as of current, staying positive it won’t go further.

Not to complain but the worst part is we have pet insurance. However, two weeks before I got insurance (my work got it for Ramsay as an added bonus and work perk) Ramsay was taken into a vet for a spell of diarrhea(unrelated to this). I was being cautious as my new dog had diarrhea and I worked close to a great vet. Because of this when I got insurance they do not cover anything that remotely could be a part of gastrointestinal issues. Anything with that is an exclusion on my coverage because of a “pre-existing” condition. It’s frustrating because we have insurance that would cover this large bill, but of course they won’t.

We arent not looking to beg or ask people for money but I figured if people wanted too or could that there would be a place for that. We can really use the help but not counting on this even though financially we cannot afford this.

Over the months we have spent thousands of dollars trying to get to the bottom of this..

If you donate we will greatly appreciate it and as would Ramsay.

The things we do for our pets is amazing and I never realized that until last night when we had to leave him last night.
