My name is Srijana, I am a children's nursing student, currently living and studying in the United Kingdom.
Tragically, on the 25th April 2015, a devastating earthquake hit Nepal with a magnitude of 7.8, killing over 8,000 people.
Many parts of the capital city, Kathmandu, and outer districts were affected, leaving people homeless; lacking shelter, food and water.
Amongst these districts, in Satar, Nuwakot, the village where my mum and her family grew up, was also badly hit.
It is reported that as a result of the earthquake in April 2015, 1,000 people had been reported killed and 1,311 injured in Nuwakot as of the 7.3 magnitude aftershock that struck on May, 12th 2015.
The focus of this fundraise is to help in rebuilding the Raluka Devi Higher Secondary School in Nuwakot. The aim is to raise money to provide essential school materials such as whiteboard and pens, books and stationary, as well as visiting the school and the area and assessing what other help can be provided.
At the moment there is no set date to when we will be heading out there, but a small group of us will most likely be travelling around early January 2017.
This is something that holds dear to the heart, to me, my family and the local community and school children in Satar.
Any help or amount will be extremely appreciated.
Many thanks and Dhanyabaad
Kind regards, Srijana
