Ralph Mouth is a Persian kitten born on May 14, 2015.
On Friday, October 23rd, his hind legs were suddenly paralyzed. We immediately sought veterinary treatment and it was recommended we take him to MedVet Columbus where he underwent a battery of tests and procedures including: blood work, X-ray, ultrasound, MRI and spinal tap. The tests did reveal an abnormality in Ralph's spine.
The MRI indicates degenerative change in the disc at T13 and L1. Fragments of the disc material have caused a fibrocartilaginous emboli [FCE] - (like a stroke but with connective tissue instead of a blood clot) which has caused the swelling in the spinal cord itself.
Ralph continues to improve, he is walking again, although he is unstable on his hind legs with particular difficulty with his right hind leg. His improvement is about "baby steps". All of these tests, on-going veterinary checkups and medications are costly. We have set up this account to assist us in funding Ralph's treatment(s).
All donations small or large will be greatly appreciated, including just SHARING THIS POST. I have never asked for monetary assistance for any of my animals before, but we really need some help right now. God Bless
