Update 2-17-2024: Tina has completed her chemo treatments and is now in remission. We want to thank everyone for their gracious generosity and many prayers. God is so good! She will follow up every three months with her oncology team at Mayo clinic. Tina celebrated by ringing the bell. Thank you all again for the love and support.

Update: Tina is halfway through her chemotherapy treatments, but had some setbacks which landed her back in the hospital for 11 days. Immediately after her 2nd IV chemo treatment she had serious neurological side effect which resulted as stroke like symptoms. She recovered from that and 2 weeks later her body stopped metabolizing one of her chemo drugs. As a result, she also had to be treated for congestive heart failure. She is recovering at home being treated with chemo infusions and will return to IV chemo treatments soon.

Rallying Together for Tina's Medical Journey

With heavy hearts, we turn to this GoFundMe campaign to seek help for our loving mom, Tina, known as Florentina Jacques, Ttrab, or Mama Bear to those who hold her closest to their hearts. This incredible woman, who has always been there for her family and everyone around her, found herself facing an unexpected turn of life's path.

In late July, she went to the local ER because of chest pain and extreme arm pain and partial paralysis, but instead she was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer and underwent emergency surgery the very next day to remove part of her colon.

Despite the emotional and physical toll of her battle, she's showing incredible strength and courage. However, between all the medical appointments and side effects of chemotherapy, she has been unable to return to work. Without long-term disability insurance nor income, the burden of mounting medical and personal bills, is something we cannot shoulder alone.

Mom has always been the first to lend a helping hand, and now, we want to do what she would do for any of us. Your support means more than words can express. We'd also like to take this opportunity to stress the importance of regular cancer screenings, starting at the age of 45. Early detection can save lives, and Tina's journey serves as a powerful reminder of that. She was so blessed in that unbeknownst to her --the ER that she happened to go to belonged to a Cancer Hospital.
