Hi all! My name is Francesca, and I am creating this Gofundme on behalf of Justin Johnstone and his amazing family. With my upcoming Christmas event, the Ho Hos of WOFO, I wanted to focus on helping a family instead of doing raffles, and this is where my heart led me It took a lot of persuasion (and by persuasion I mean full force) for him to allow me to do this, but the past two years have been a bit of turmoil health wise. Justin has been diagnosed with Roemheld Syndrome. In Justin's words to simplify it, "I have a mechanical issue in my upper GI tract, which in turn is causing me to have cardiac episodes. Needing treatment and Fundoplication surgery with hernia repair in order to stop recurring cardiac events/arrhythmia". Lacking medical insurance, Justin has already spent thousands and thousands of dollars on doctor visits, tests, labs, etc. and he still has long road of all of the above moving forward. Surgeons alone want 20k down before proceeding with surgery. If surgery is not allowed due to the risks, he will have to come up with a Plan B, which will equally be a financial strain.
On top of all of the health issues, the Johnstone's dishwasher had a non-visible leak that flooded their entire downstairs, so it is currently gutted while being repaired, which means they have to pay for food daily since their kitchen is not usable. Again, this took a lot for Justin to even allow me to do this, he didn't have the heart to ask for help (pun intended) . This family has been so amazing within our community, and we love to help a fellow neighbor. That is my favorite part of Woodforest, I know if I ever got into a rut, I could turn to any of you and you would be eager to help. This holiday, lets rally around and make this journey as stress free as possible.
