Rallying the Troops for Leroy
Donation protected
As many of you know, on Monday, April 14th, Leroy was found unresponsive at home. He was rushed to the ER and admitted to the critical care unit at Mayo Hospital. Doctors diagnosed him with Hypercapnic Respiratory Failure, along with several other serious health complications. He tested positive for COVID and was immediately intubated and placed on a ventilator.
After a few days, Leroy’s condition began to show slight improvements, and the doctors were able to extubate him. He continued breathing with the help of a BiPAP and high-flow oxygen machines for two days. Sadly, on the third day, his condition began to worsen again. His body, including multiple organs, started to struggle. He developed pneumonia and influenza on top of COVID, and once again, he was unable to breathe safely on his own.
His medical team made the difficult decision to intubate him again. He remains sedated and on a ventilator, and will continue to be in critical care for the foreseeable future as his team works tirelessly to stabilize him.
As many of you know, Leroy and I share 4 beautiful children. What many don’t know is that about a month ago, we welcomed his niece into our daily lives. She had been in foster care, and we made the decision together to take guardianship of her and raise her as our own.
Now, with 5 kids, 3 dogs, a home and a business to manage, I’ve also taken on the responsibility of overseeing Leroy’s home, his 2 dogs, and his finances/bills while he is unable to.
Leroy’s road to recovery will be long and uncertain. We don’t know what the future holds, but in the meantime, I’m doing my best to keep everything afloat for him and our family.
If you know Leroy, you know his heart is bigger than life itself. He’s the guy who gives his last dollar without hesitation, who shows up when no one else will, & who lights up the room with his faith and kindness. He has been a blessing to so many people.
Now it’s our turn to be a blessing to him.
My immediate goal is to cover Leroy’s bills through June 30th, at which point his lease will end and another chapter will begin. God willing.
If we can rally together for Leroy right now, I know he’ll be forever grateful—and once he’s back on his feet, I know he would do the same for anyone in need.
I’m not someone who often asks for help, But I know Leroy wouldn’t want me to carry this burden alone.
If you feel led to contribute financially, you can do so here or via Venmo: @lola-roby.
But more than anything, please continue to keep Leroy in your prayers ❤️
