Hello Cycling Friends,
Our beloved Suwanee Creek Bicycles (shop) owners, Jeff and Wendy Nalley, were involved in a cycling accident on the evening of Wednesday, 5/16/18, around 7-7:15 pm. Jeff and Wendy were on their tandem accompanied by Dave and Ernie on their road bikes for the weekly Wednesday ride to Lake Lanier.
The group of 4 cyclists had turned left onto Lanier Island Parkway and just passed the convenience store (on the right), when a black Honda car driven by a 20-something year old female, passed them very closely. The group all shouted to give them clearance, but she cut back in front of Jeff's wheel and took the tandem out. Wendy hit the side of the car and was knocked unconscious when her head impacted the car then she landed face first on the pavement. Jeff hit the car breaking his left shoulder and left hip.
Sparingly, Dave and Ernie were not injured and phoned 911 for emergency assistance and help the Nalleys before they were individually rushed via ambulance to North Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, GA.
Both are receiving excellent medical treatment. Jeff did get hip surgery yesterday and has his left arm in a sling for his left clavicle to heal. Wendy is stabilized, but still in ICU.
We would appreciate everyone's assistance in support two amazing individuals of our Cycling Community and Cycling Family. If you can donate the cost of a inner tube or energy bar, it will be appreciated and the funds will go a long way!
Please support the Rally for the Nalleys!
