Dear Friends, Family and Community,
We're reaching out to you with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits as we navigate an incredibly challenging chapter in our lives. Our beloved Christina and Richard recently welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Reign-Lynn, into the world on Sunday, June 9, 2024. However, the joy of her arrival has been overshadowed by a tumultuous journey of medical complexities.
From the start of Christina's pregnancy, they were met with uncertainties and fears. Routine screenings revealed complications surrounding Reign-Lynn’s growth and development, her umbilical cord, and further concerns extending to potential life-altering genetic/congenital abnormalities.
In May, following an appointment at her high-risk pregnancy physician, an urgent decision was made to transfer Christina from Kingston General Hospital to Toronto's Mount Sinai Hospital for an emergency caesarean section.
Since her arrival, Reign-Lynn has been courageously battling serious heart complications in the neonatal intensive care unit at SickKids Hospital. The health care team – some of Canada’s leading paediatric physicians– have been working around the clock to unravel the complexities of Reign-Lynn’s case.
Imagine the weight on this young family's shoulders. Christina, usually the vibrant force behind her horse farm, now finds herself immersed in the anguish of watching her precious baby fight for every breath. Richard, juggling a full-time job, volunteer firefighting and numerous other roles, stands as the steadfast pillar of strength for his family, balancing responsibilities with an aching heart.
This journey has brought them to a crossroads of uncertainty, where every day is a rollercoaster of emotions. But amidst the turmoil, there's an unwavering love for Reign-Lynn, a determination to see her through this storm. We rally together to support Christina, Richard, and baby Reign-Lynn during this difficult journey.
Your contributions, no matter how big or small, will alleviate the financial burdens of medical bills, accommodations, and daily expenses during their stay in Toronto, expected to stretch for the next 6 to 8 weeks, if not longer. Together, we can ease their burdens and shower them with the love and support they desperately need during this trying time.
Please keep Reign-Lynn in your thoughts and prayers, and consider donating to their GoFundMe campaign.
Thank you for your generosity, compassion, and support.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Families of Christina and Richard
