On August 12, Phil was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. He was airlifted by Mayo One to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where he underwent emergency surgery for significant injuries.
We are incredibly thankful for no current evidence of significant internal or spinal injuries; however, there was significant damage to his left leg. Phil will be facing the amputation of his left leg, with surgery currently scheduled for tomorrow, August 14, 2026. The incredible medical staff are doing their best to save as much of his leg as possible, but we know that whatever decisions need to be made will be life-saving and life-changing. He and his family have a long road ahead as he heals, begins rehabilitation, and adjusts to a new normal.
We are sharing this openly with the support of his family because so many people care about Phil and have understandably had questions. Right now, we hope this allows Phil and his wife, Brandie, to focus their energy on his recovery rather than having to repeatedly explain what happened.
Many people have reached out asking how they can help, so we created this fundraiser to give Phil, Brandie, Wyatt, and Waylon one less thing to worry about during the months ahead.
Funds raised will help with the many expenses that can accompany an injury of this magnitude, including:
Medical and rehabilitation expenses
Prosthetic and mobility-related needs
Time away from work and lost income
Travel and transportation for appointments and rehabilitation
Home or vehicle accessibility needs that may arise
Everyday household and family expenses during his recovery
Other unexpected expenses along the way
There are still many unknowns about what the coming weeks and months will look like. His recovery won't end when he leaves the hospital. There will be healing, rehabilitation, learning, adapting, and undoubtedly challenges that we can't anticipate yet. Things we do know: Phil sees any challenge as another form of exercise, competition, and inevitable confirmation of his legendary status. We also know that Phil will use every online tutorial and power tool that he has access to if someone needs his help until the problem is solved, but is unlikely to ask for help in return. We need to rally for Phil.
Our hope is to give Phil the ability to put as much of his energy as possible toward healing and moving forward, without the added weight of financial uncertainty.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a difference. If you aren't able to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser is another wonderful way to support him and his family.
We are incredibly thankful for everyone who has reached out, prayed, offered help, checked in, and surrounded them with support. It means more than we can put into words.
We will share updates here as we are able and as Phil and his family are comfortable doing so.
Thank you for supporting Phil, Brandie, Wyatt, and Waylon as they navigate the road ahead. ❤️
