Rallying for Eric Grove
Donation protected
On March 11, Eric was in a terrible car accident. He received extensive injuries, the most severe being brain trauma. It's been a long, rough road to get him where he's at now but he still has a very long way to go. The doctors say that he's at the very beginning stages of rehabilitation. I offered to start a gofundme page from day one but his parents (Julie & Dave) wanted to wait until it was really needed for his recovery. Now is that time!
Julie took a medical leave from her job, to move to Albuquerque, so she could be with him full time. She has been in contact with Texas facilities & medicaid, trying to find out what it will take to get him moved to Amarillo. The neurosurgeon gave the okay last week to do what needs to be done to get him tranported here. That entails a few very high costs. First, Julie already has him on lists of the 3 best rehabilitation facilities here. That means there could be a place for him in a few days or not for months. But they won't even start his medicaid paper work until he is in a facility in the state of Texas. That means that the first 30 to 45 days will have to be paid out of pocket. The first 30 days alone will be at least a $5000 payment, at the minimum. They were told that once Medicaid is approved they may get a refund on what has been paid but we were told the same concerning our mother and never received anything back. Second, medicaid will not pay to have him moved to Texas. We don't have an exact cost yet, but it will be very high.
Every single cent that isn't needed for his care and needs, will be saved for Eric WHEN he is rehabilitated and needs to start over. That may be here in Texas or maybe in Red River where he has so many friends that he considers family.
We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has been there for Eric and his family! And all of the love, prayers, and thoughts mean more than we could ever say! Thank y'all so much!
