Everyone's beloved market assistant, Darcy Tucker, tripped and broke her arm very badly at the Sunday Market last weekend.
She is in early retirement and does not qualify for medical insurance, Medicare, through social security for another 18 months. We are raising funds to help cover the costs of consults and the surgery she needs to fix the break, quoted at $11,900 as a self-pay patient.
We are working with advisors to get some sort of financial assistance through the government, a payment plan through the hospitals, or emergency insurance coverage for low-income adults without any success. We've paid out of pocket to see 3 orthopedic specialists for low income and they all direct us back to the specialists and then to hospitals for surgery due to the severity of the injury.
We wanted to share her story in hopes that we can raise funds to help offset some of these upfront costs and get Darcy into the surgeon to give her the best chance to use her hand again. Thank you, everyone!
