Rallying for Bret: Travel & Care Support for His Family

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Bret DeGayner’s injury’s are too much to recover from following his motorcycle accident. In a final act of generosity, Bret, who was a registered organ donor, is giving the gift of life to others. Over the coming days, his organs and tissues will be evaluated for transplant, a rare opportunity that reflects just how giving and selfless he was in life. 

This loss is devastating, but the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from friends, family, and the community has been a true source of comfort for the DeGayners. Funds raised here will now help ease the financial burden of funeral expenses, continued travel, and time away from work as they grieve and celebrate Bret’s life.

On Tuesday June 17th, my best friend Iz’s dad, Bret DeGayner, was in a devastating motorcycle accident while in Florida. He is currently in critical condition at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, where he underwent emergency surgery to relieve a traumatic brain bleed. Bret remains in a medically induced coma as doctors monitor swelling and assess the extent of his injuries, which include multiple fractures and internal trauma.

As the DeGayner family faces this unimaginable situation, they are doing everything they can to be by Bret’s side. His oldest daughter, Emme, flew to Florida immediately and is navigating travel, lodging, and car rental expenses while also being away from her own children, who are staying with her mother, Tammy. Bret’s other daughters, Iz and Lilia, are waiting for updates before they travel as well. These unexpected and urgent costs are creating a significant financial strain on the family.

I’m organizing this fundraiser to help ease some of that burden. Every donation, big or small, will help cover travel, lodging, and other expenses so the family can focus fully on being with Bret during this critical time.
