Rallying for Anna: Breast Cancer Recovery

My loving sister Anna just turned 40 on March 10th. She didn't think she would be celebrating a big milestone with a breast cancer diagnosis but she is keeping strong and positive, making the best of the current situation.

Back in November Anna found a lump in her breast. She went for her first mammogram and breast ultrasound in February. She went in expecting them to tell her she was too young to have anything to worry about and it was a cyst. Instead they took her into a room and told her they found 4 masses. Anna was in pure panic!!!

Anna had a biopsy on all 4 masses as well as an MRI. The 2 masses on the left breast are benign but the 2 on the right breast are cancerous. With her family history and her mom passing from cancer at 51, and the masses on the left being papillomas, she has decided to under go a double mastectomy.

March 20th is when her surgery is scheduled for.

Anna has 3 children who are very supportive and scared at the same time. This is very scary and an unknown outcome for them.

Bills and life do not stop even for Cancer. As much as we know currently, Anna will be out of work with unpaid leave for 4-8 weeks to recover. She is a Server and thankfully she has medical insurance through work. She will need help with her bills and food. Her bills are $3,000 a month and she currently has $7,000 deductible to pay to the hospital. She will have follow up Doctor Appointments and may end up needing additional treatments. She does not want to ask for help but with everyone discussing things with her she understands it's okay to accept the help.

UPDATE 3/21/2025 from Anna:

"Surgery went very well!! I’ll know in a week about treatment. I’m in a lot pain right now but trying to take it easy! Thank you everyone for all your kind words, definitely for your prayers and for keeping me in your thoughts today!! My family and all my friends really pulled together today to make going into surgery slightly less stressful and I could never thank you all enough! I love each of you so so so much!! I’m laying down to rest with my cuddle puppy since my real dogs couldn’t make it today! Thank you all for helping out with my go fund me (it means so much to me) for the donations and the shares. Thank you all so much! I love you very very much!!"

UPDATE 3/28/2025 from Anna:

"I am beyond excited to announce that surgery really was a HUGE SUCCESS! My pathology report came in today and I am CANCER FREE!!! I am very grateful and very thankful for these results. Today has been an emotional day. My pathology report originally said that the margins were not cancer free (which would have lead to additional surgery with radiation and or chemo). A benefit to having a double mastectomy is that it lowers the chances of needing radiation treatment after surgery. I still have have a long road to recovery with unpaid time off from work and another surgery later on but the light at the end of my tunnel is so bright!!!! I can’t even express how I feel right now. Thank you all again for your prayers and help so far. Today is definitely an amazing day for me!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️"
