I’m writing this on behalf of my best friend, Tamara Lozeau, who means the world to me. Anyone who knows her knows how selfless, hardworking, and loving she is, and how she’s always the first to show up for others. Now, in an incredibly difficult time, I’m asking our community to rally around Tamara the way she has always supported so many of us.

In November 2024, what started as a routine mammogram quickly changed the course of her life. A biopsy on March 25th led to a breast cancer diagnosis on March 28th, and on June 26th she underwent a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction.

She hoped to take just a month off work, but recovery was much harder than expected. Initially, doctors thought chemotherapy wouldn’t be necessary, but in August her oncologist recommended 4 rounds of chemo followed by 17 rounds of Herceptin antibody treatment, as her medullary HER2-negative tumor carries a higher risk of spreading and growing quickly.

As she continues treatment, Tamara is dealing with exhaustion, back aches, bouts of nausea, and the emotional toll of this journey. With more time off work than planned, finances are becoming increasingly tight. Although she receives EI assistance, it is not enough to cover everything, especially as a single mom with shared custody of her two young boys, AJ (6) and Jaxon (9).

This GoFundMe is to help ease that financial burden so Tamara can focus her energy where it’s needed most; on healing and on being present for her boys. Tamara has always been the kind of friend, mom, and community member who shows up with her whole heart. I’ve seen firsthand the love she pours into her boys, the strength she’s shown through this battle, and the way she continues to inspire everyone around her. She is truly my hero.
