Our family is preparing for the next big step in my nephew, Rhett’s, journey with Bladder Exstrophy. He has an upcoming surgery in March in Ohio at their Children’s Hospital with a specialist from London that they’ve been working with.

This surgery is part of Rhett’s long-term care and will require an extended hospital stay of approximately two weeks, along with close monitoring and recovery afterward for 6 additional weeks. This year, Rhett will be spending his 5th birthday in the hospital, surrounded by doctors and nurses instead of cake and candles — and showing more bravery than most adults ever have to.

During this time, Josh and Kensie will be away from home, managing medical care, lodging, meals, and travel expenses, while also being out of work for over a month so they can focus fully on Rhett’s recovery and healing.

They would never ask for help themselves, but as family, we wanted to step in and create this fundraiser to help ease some of the financial stress so they can focus on what truly matters: supporting Rhett through this important milestone in his medical journey.

Funds raised will go directly toward medical-related travel costs, lodging, meals, and everyday expenses during recovery. Every donation, no matter the amount, truly makes a difference.
