Hi friends,
I never imagined I would be writing something like this. Our family and our hometown community is in shock, and I’m doing my best to share what I know.
On the night of February 8, 2026, my little brother Cody was involved in a devastating accident that took the life of one of his friends. Three other kids were involved, and the ripple effects of this tragedy are being felt by so many people back home.
My parents have given everything they have to Cody and my little sister, Karleigh, from the moment they were born. They opened their hearts and their home to them at a time when they believed they were finished raising children.
The past few months have already pushed our family to its limits. In January, we learned that Karleigh has a brain tumor, something my parents were completely unprepared for emotionally and financially. Medical appointments, uncertainty, and fear have already been weighing heavily on them.
Now, with Cody’s accident, he will be hospitalized for a minimum of ten days. Between travel back and forth to the hospital, caring for both kids, and time away from work, the financial strain is becoming overwhelming.
Asking for help is incredibly hard, especially when so many people are struggling themselves. But right now, any support (financial or otherwise) would mean more than words can express. Donations will help cover travel costs, medical-related expenses, and the loss of income while my parents focus on being present for both Cody and Karleigh at this time.
If you are able to donate or share this page, please know that it truly makes a difference. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for holding our family and our community in your thoughts.
With all of the love and gratitude,
Sarah Whitmire
**Funds will be passed along to my parents to be used as they see fit during the duration of care for the kids.
