Ron is a cancer warrior who has been battling small cell lung cancer (SCLC) since July 2015. After several rounds of chemo and radiation, Ron elected to have an additional round of radiation on his brain as a preventative step given how aggressively small cell progresses.
Unfortunately, treatment was not successful and scans showed the cancer spread to Ron's liver.
But Ron refuses to give up.
The loving support from his wife of over 38 years, Jeanne...
The adoration from his daughters Kate and Lindsay, and his son-in-law Imran...
The pure joy from his grandson, Aidan...

These reasons and countless others reflect why Ron has decided to join a clinical trial through the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to test the effectiveness of a new drug found to be a "DNA repair inhibitor" (i.e., prevent cancer cells from repairing after the chemo damages them).
He is Patient #1!
Ron will be required to travel to Bethesda, MD bi-weekly to receive treatment for at least 8 weeks. If, after 8 weeks, scans reveal the tumor on his liver is smaller or the same size, he will continue the trial.
Ron and Jeanne have declined offers for financial support throughout their journey, only requesting prayers and positive thoughts. Although NCI covers treatment costs and supplements travel, there will be many expenses not covered:
* Jeanne's flight costs for treatment visits
* Car rental in MD
* Hotel in MD
* Dog boarding
* Travel costs for additional visits with their out-of-state daughters and grandson
**Any money raised that is not used towards these expenses will be donated to cancer research.**
Ron is a fun-loving, hard-working husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who has spent his whole life taking care of others. Ron had just begun retirement and welcomed his first grandchild when this relentless disease took hold. Please help relieve some burden so that Ron can remain hopeful in his fight.
We thank you with all our hearts,
Ron's Children:
Lindsay, Kate, Imran, and Aidan
P.S. If you wish to contribute in other ways (e.g., airline miles, hotel points, etc.), please private message Kate on Facebook (Kate Moser Rahman).
