Rally4Rick: Support Rick Brewer and Family

Donation protected
If you've ever met Rick, you know Rick, though you may know him as Jessie, or Uncle Jessie. He's strong, resilient, kind. Folks all over know him for something, whether it be his beard, his love for baseball, his history (and success) with cattle, or any other number of things he's gotten himself into. You may have even run into him at Co-Op in Williamson County. There are few men on this planet like Rick and certainly none with hands as big as his - or a heart as big as his. He's the kind of person who could talk to you for days, but he's also the kind of person who would never ask for help, even when faced with the most challenging of circumstances. This is a trait, of course, carried by his children.

Two weeks ago, Rick's life took an unexpected turn when visiting family out of state and wound up in a Chicago hospital, miles away from home. It was a sudden reality for his family, who dropped everything to be by his side - and it's been an uphill battle ever since. Challenging circumstances not only for Rick, but for his loved ones, and if they won't ask for help, I'd like to ask for help for them.

Rick has already undergone multiple procedures and while there is some room for extremely cautious optimism, there are constant reminders of just how bad of shape he is in. While he has largely been unresponsive these two weeks, he has gained some alertness and movement and the family continues to take it as it comes, day by day.

While Rick and his family remain determined in their fight, it's our duty as a community to remember that costs are mounting for a family we care for a lot. Certainly hotel bills in Chicago have added an unexpected burden to an already difficult situation. They are weathering the storm but could use some support from the communities they've always been a part of.

This fundraiser isn't just about financial assistance; it's about showing Rick and his family that they are not alone. It's about rallying around a man who has dedicated his life to his passions and his family, and it's a chance for all of us to come together as a team - even an extended family - to provide an extra boost of strength and support.

Your contribution will not only help ease the financial strain but also send a powerful message of solidarity to the Brewer family.

To handle some FAQ's:

1. Who am I and where am I from?
Dylan Platz, Tennessee

2. What is my relationship to the people I'm raising funds for?
I met Rick back in 2014 when we started playing vintage base ball together. I've been lucky enough to play with Jessie as a teammate ever since - and even in several states.

3. How will the funds be spent and how will they be delivered?
The funds will be sent to Luke Brewer, Rick's son. They will be spent on things the family needs to spend them on: medical bills, hotel bills, maybe a decent meal or three, or even gas / flight money as the family travels back and forth when needed.
