Our niece, Ally Obney, 13, was enjoying time with her family on Saturday, October 28, 2017. After complaining of a headache that quickly became severe, she vomited and immediately became unresponsive. Her parents (Brian and Lorri Obney) called 9-1-1 and their family-filled Saturday quickly became a nightmare.
Ally was rushed to a nearby hospital, where a CT scan revealed severe bleeding in her brain. She immediately underwent emergency brain surgery. Ally is currently in critical condition and on life support. More surgeries may be needed.
Ally’s neurosurgeon has diagnosed her with AVM -- Arteriovenous Malformation -- a rare condition affecting less than 1% of all people. AVM is a tangle of abnormal blood vessels in the brain; it adversely affects the supply of oxygen to one's brain. Additional complications are possible, but it is still too early to know the extent of damage to Ally’s brain.
Doctors are hopeful that our precious niece, daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, best friend, classmate, and teammate will recover, but she will be hospitalized for a minimum of several weeks. There is not yet a definitive timetable for her recovery.
This terrible development puts a huge strain on Ally’s family of 5, as both of her parents work multiple jobs. Her sisters, Taylor and Jordyn, have financial needs of their own. Medical expenses are quickly mounting and Ally’s mother, Lorri, is taking unpaid medical leave to be at the hospital to help care for Ally. This generous, kind, loving family is humbly asking for help. Please consider easing their financial burden by offsetting the enormous cost of Ally’s medical expenses with a donation today.
