RALLY ROUND NATALIE JADE

I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my brother Joseph and sister-in-law Elaine. Their 2-year-old daughter Natalie has been at Children’s National hospital since December 29th when she was airlifted from Howard Hospital with sepsis due to intestinal failure. She was immediately placed into a medically induced coma to allow her body to stabilize. On December 30th she had surgery to remove a defective portion of her small intestine and given a stoma to allow the remaining portion of her intestines to heal. She was under sedation with a breathing tube until January 2nd and remained in the Pediatric ICU until January 10th. Currently she is not gaining weight at an appropriate scale and will require a Gastrostomy Tube surgery in the upcoming days, followed eventually by a surgery to reconnect her intestines. With more surgeries ahead this is becoming a longer and much more expensive journey than originally anticipated. There is currently no expected discharge date. Natalie also has Cystic Fibrosis which adds to the complication of her health and additional ongoing medical bills for her routine medications and medical care.

Because of this, to support Natalie and be with her full time, the Criscuoli family has been reduced to a one teacher income. They are expecting an estimated hospital bill of at least $100,000. This is only an estimate up to today’s date (Feb 9). This estimate does not include upcoming surgeries, continued hospital stays, medications, and eventual at-home care and follow-up medical care. Joe and Elaine are also missing time with their 3-month-old newborn, who has been rotating between both sets of grandparents so that Joe and Elaine can rotate time with Natalie at the hospital.

Your contribution will help Joe and Elaine pay hospital bills for Natalie’s surgeries, extended hospital stays, medications such as TPN, Lipids, Elecare, Creon, Albuterol, Budesonide and Sodium Chloride as well as maintenance/follow-up health care. Any additional money raised would help to offset their mortgage payments and utility bills since they are currently down to one half of a teacher’s salary.
