Support David Christeson aka Bassie
David Christeson, better known as Bassie amongst locals, has been a part of the Telluride community since 1988 helping keep the authentic roots of our tiny mountain town alive and strong.
He needs our support.
Bassie has been silently and humbling struggling with sever arthritis for too long.
As many of you who know him have probably noticed, his body has been struggling to keep up with the energy he gifts us all through his music. As our saxophone player in Niceness John White said so perfectly, "Bassie has been huge for all of us, musically and in other ways. He's such a beautiful human being, a giver. He's so unselfish and his spirit shines through the music. He is quite literally the foundation of our sound."
Bassie is currently gearing up for multiple surgeries this summer and could use our support.
Starting July 6th he will begin his run of surgeries:
-a hip replacement
-2 knee replacements &
-double hand surgery to alleviate the Dupuytren's.
Thankfully he was able to get on medicaid so a lot of his surgery costs will be covered but there will most definitely be extra expenses incurred and we want to ensure he is taken care of during his recovery. We are setting up a food delivery service so he does not have to worry about making trips to the store or preparing food. We are working towards lining up home visits from a physical therapist to help keep him on track with his recovery. He will be unable to work during this time so we want to ensure he has his rent covered and all his needs met so that he can focus on healing.
We are raising 25k to support Bassie during his recovery and to cover:
- extra medical expenses
- recovery time and treatments
- life necessities (primarily food & rent)
Ways to contribute:
- donate what you can
- spread this campaign
- send well wishes and a message letting him know how he has touched your life with his music and presence
We are having a Niceness album release party/Benefit for Bassie on June 27th so if you're in the Telluride region please join us! Tickets are available via Telluride Arts!
Let's see Bassie strong and healthy and financially supported to he can continue to pursue his love of music and life in the mountains.
Thank you for sharing this campaign!
