Rally Around Art Volpe

For those who know Art, you know his story. He is battling cancer for the second time, this time an extremely aggressive form of cancer which is often incurable,  and had spead.  His diagnosis is squamous cell carcinoma of the left nasal cavity and surrounding glands. He is just a few weeks out from a 14 hour surgery where they had to remove part of his nose, 7 of his teeth, his upper pallette, his upper lip and break his leg to take the bone to form new facial bones to replace those that were cancerous.  The surgery was successful and they believe they removed all of the cancer. BUT...you know Art!! He has already showed up at the office looking to work, even before he has ever been able to take a bite of food or a drink- still with the feeding tube in! He will not be able to eat for a long time, so meals in support are not an option to show him and Lisa our caring- one reason we put this site together at the request of many who would like to help out but dont know how!

He is, in typical Art fashion, smiling and holding open houses- while being on radiation 4-5 days a week. He had lost over 30 pounds. Today he told me that they unfortunately just extended his radiation regiment- tough news.  He needs to rest- but he also needs to work- he is on commission only and has many  hospital bills adding up. New teeth alone will cost him $30,000 and are not covered by his medical insurance. 

Art lives and breathes real estate.  He has helped 1000s of clients sell their home or buy their dream home! He told me that he doesnt know how to function without working. He is one of the hardest working people that I know! Real estate is not a job for him, but his life.  Art needs to heal, as his body is truly betraying him.  His mind is moving ahead, but his body won't cooperate. He has 4 to 5 other surgeries ahead this year to "put his good looks back together" (Lisa's words :)) and alot of pain to get through. Let's give him a hand- let's Rally around Art to show him that we are there for him, so that he can take a break and let himself heal.  I am 100% sure that the Dr didnt say "go out this weekend and sell as many homes as you can- but that's what he is trying to do and will need to do to keep up with his many bills coming in.  

Art is putting up the fight of his life! I have never known Art to back down from anything tough and he won't start giving up now! Art comes from a background in the marines, and has served his country with honor! He has never not worked a week in his life that I know of- except when battling for his life.
