If you know Zukhra, you know she’s the first to offer a helping hand. As a single mom, she’s dedicated her life to raising her wonderful son and supporting everyone around her —always putting others before herself.

Here some more details on her story. Zukhra underwent an urgent back surgery on April 23, 2025 due to her losing the ability to walk and being in 10/10 pain. Pre-op diagnosis: L3-L4 disc herniation with left-sided polyradiculopathy

and severe stenosis.

Procedure performed - Decompression of the thecal sac and left L4and L5 nerve roots, to include:

1) inferior hemilaminotomy, left L3

2) superior laminotomy, left L4

3) medial facetectomy, left L3-4

4) Left L4 foramenotomy

5) microdiskectomy, left L3-4

Diagnostic procedures, surgery and a hospital stay totalled over $130,000 - most of it covered by an insurance plan. Zukhra’s colleagues raised $1,200 as an emergency fund to cover her home care following the surgery, which was used to pay for the home health aide services. Zukhra can walk almost pain-free now and is recovering from surgery. However, she still has an outstanding patient responsibility balance in the amount of $2,462.78.

Breakdown: $1,525.67 - co-insurance for hospital stay; $543.21 - copayment and coinsurance for an outpatient MRI; $200 - emergency room copay, $193.90 - X-ray.

Despite her strength and resilience, this is a moment when Zukhra can’t do it alone. Every dollar brings her closer to recovery and relieves the financial stress so she can focus on healing and caring for her son.
